Round table "Research of provenancies in Belarus"

On 27 November, 2013, at 10 a.m., a round table "Research of provenancies in Belarus" will be held in the Educational Hall (3rd floor) of the National Library of Belarus. the Protection of Rare Books of the Belarusian Library Association.

The study of the millennial history of the Belarusian book collections which are scattered around the world is one of the difficult tasks of the Belarusian book science because in most cases the history of book collections is the history of their destruction and extinction. Difficulties arise due to the fact that significant remnants of historical book collections that have survived and continue to be witnesses of their time to the present day is not enough studied by Belarusian scientists. Provenancies are the marks which indicate the identity of a book to an individual or organization, make each copy of the edition unique, reflect rich historical and factual information. The studies of provenancies serve to the reconstruction of the Belarusian book collections and their learning as well as to the connection to a whole cultural space of Belarus and neighboring nations.

The purpose of the round table: the exchange of experience, discussion of problems and development of opportunities to enhance and improve research provenancies.
